New Journey, New Life Church
Heidi and I are near the end of our third week on staff at New Life Church, Everett, Washington.
We are serving here as “Interim Co-Lead Pastors”. The “interim” role serves as a bridge for a season. While serving in this role we will do so prayerfully and with vision for the future. We appreciate your prayers as we seek to be good shepherds to this wonderful staff and congregation. On October 30th, New Life Church served over 4000 people who came here for an incredible Halloween outreach. Yesterday I took a prayer drive with some of the staff, visiting strategic […]
The World Comes to Eugene
Yesterday was the first day of the World Track and Field Championships. It is being held at the new track in Eugene, Oregon. As I watched the highlights it took me back in time to the days when I ran there.
We all are called to run this race of life with the goal of finishing well.
The Perfect Race
Hayward Field is the mecca for track and field in the United States. It is holy ground. More Olympic Trials, U.S. Championships, and NCAA Championships have been held there than any other location […]
Ministering as a Couple
Heidi and I just completed this podcast and article about the challenges of doing ministry together.
What other challenges has ministry created for you? What rewards?
Disturbing Days…What to do?
If you’re like me, you’re feeling disturbed and upset by the onslaught of some really bad news. The school shooting in Texas is horrific.
UVALDE, TX – MAY 24: Law enforcement work the scene after a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School where 19 people, including 18 children, were killed on May 24, 2022 in Uvalde, Texas. The suspected gunman, identified as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, was reportedly killed by law enforcement. (Photo by Jordan Vonderhaar/Getty Images)
Six days ago my first granddaughter was born and another is on the way. What kind of […]
Waiting
I have never been a naturally patient person.
I run fast. I plan my day. I think ahead. I keep a schedule. I try to guess which grocery line is the quickest, but usually am wrong and get frustrated as my line ends up being the slowest. I am the first one in the car and often find myself idling while waiting for my significant others to catch up. No one likes being stuck in traffic and I don’t like being stuck in church services or in meetings that are dragging on long after […]
April 29th Update
Heidi and I are back in Eureka before heading to Oregon and then Washington. Our recent travels were productive, fruitful, and somewhat restful. Heidi stayed especially busy in her role as a Regional Pastor. I believe that our landing place for the next season will come into focus during the next eight weeks. Early this week, I completed some training in church consultation. The training will definitely be useful to me as a leader, wherever the Lord leads. https://malphursgroup.com/
I have been reflecting on Haggai 2, and realize that I have spent […]
