Hello friends!
With election day upon us, I wanted to say a few things prior to the finalization of the voting.
#1: Thank you to everyone who has expressed love, offered support, given time, money and prayers. I cannot describe how humbled and grateful Heidi and I feel about each one of you. (And if you are a friend but haven’t been involved, we love you as well!)
#2: Keep dreaming big in your own life. Every big dream requires a big risk. Taking the risk is the first step and is admirable. Success takes place when a person steps onto the starting line. A fear of failure often keeps us from growing. The outcome doesn’t always reflect true success. As John Wooden defines success, it is “the peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming”. So, a winning team might not be successful and a losing team just might be successful, based on this definition. We have that peace of mind, knowing we have made the effort to do our best and to navigate the challenges of the election with love, honesty and integrity.
#3: Don’t let the haters control you. People will try to squash your dreams. They may attack your character. They may slander you and oppose you, but remember to love, forgive, bless and pray for them. We overcome fear with love.
#4: Don’t be afraid to be yourself. People will try to control you and put you in a box that fits their vision of who you should be. Be yourself, 100%. You will make mistakes. That is OK. That is how we learn.
#5: Love your community, no matter what your job, career or position is. What we do to serve our communities and to make them more peaceful and prosperous should continue no matter what is happening in the political arena.
Thanks again! Have a great day,
Matt Messner
